Why play? Because it is one of the most fun and powerful tools there is to help kids gain valuable academic insights and to develop the 21st Century skills essential for lifelong success. Some of these skills are curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, social skills, and more. Play also helps encourage intergenerational connection.

A dynamic set of inspiring and interactive exhibits forms the centerpiece of the Museum. Neighborhood North exhibits are designed to meet important goals in child development, adult-child interaction, and community-building.  Signage to all our exhibits is linked to our partner WQED/ PBS Kid’s digital media content for deeper subject matter exploration. Additionally, our curriculum has been designed by an Occupational Therapist ensuring that goals around accessibility and social-emotional learning are met. The target age for Neighborhood North is 10 months to 10 years, but all ages are welcome.
