Code of Conduct

Community Agreements

Neighborhood North is a children’s museum built for play, creativity, and belonging. Our goal is to create a space that is joyful, safe, and welcoming for children, families, and staff.

To care for this shared space, all guests are expected to follow these community agreements:

1

This Is a Children’s Space

Neighborhood North is designed for children and the adults who care for them.

  • Adults may only enter the museum if they are accompanying a child.
  • Unaccompanied adults are not permitted unless authorized by museum staff.
2

Active Supervision Is Required

Children must remain under the active supervision of a responsible adult at all times.

  • Adults should stay close, attentive, and engaged.
  • NN is an interactive space where children move, explore, and make.
3

We Keep Each Other Safe (Child-Centered Space)

Guests are expected to behave in ways that support children’s safety, comfort, and boundaries.

This includes:

  • following staff direction
  • respectful behavior toward children, families, and staff
  • safe and appropriate play

Adults may not:

  • repeatedly approach or engage children not in their care
  • attempt to separate or isolate children
  • linger near children’s play spaces in ways that raise safety concerns

Museum staff may step in at any time to support safety and comfort.

4

Photos, Videos & Privacy

Guests are welcome to take photos or videos of their own children only.

  • Please do not photograph or record children who are not in your care.
  • Staff may ask guests to stop recording at any time.
5

Substance-Free & Weapon-Free Space

To keep the museum safe for children:

  • Weapons of any kind are not permitted.
  • Alcohol, illegal substances, and impairment are not permitted.
  • Visitors who appear impaired may be asked to leave.
6

Care for the Space & Follow Staff Direction

This museum belongs to the community.

Guests are expected to:

  • treat exhibits, materials, and the building with care
  • avoid unsafe or disruptive behavior
  • follow staff guidance related to safety and museum operations
7

Our Responsibility to the Community

Neighborhood North Museum of Play reserves the right to refuse entry or ask a guest to leave if staff determine that a visitor’s behavior or actions compromise the safety, comfort, or wellbeing of children, families, staff, or the museum environment.

In situations involving safety concerns, NN may contact law enforcement.

8

If Something Feels Off, Tell Us

If you have a concern during your visit, about safety, behavior, or comfort, please let a staff member know. We take concerns seriously and will respond with care.

Thank you for being part of our community.

Together, we keep Neighborhood North a joyful place for play, creativity, and belonging.
